The Story Behind Palisky

Palisky is more than a brand — it's a name, a legacy, and a quiet act of preservation.
A name born from new beginnings, reshaped at Ellis Island, and carried forward with intention.

As one of the last to possibly bear it, I've made it my mission to give it a new life, pressed into leather, held in your hands, and carried forward through every story you choose to tell.

Each journal is made to hold your thoughts, your hopes, your messy middle parts.

Some names vanish. Some names find new ways to live.

About Me

I started making journals because I fell in love with using them. There’s something special about high-quality leather — how it feels, how it ages, and how it carries the marks of time. I’ve always been drawn to things that are made well and made to last.

I made my first journal in turquoise, just for myself. It was functional, beautiful, and uniquely mine, and I was hooked.

There’s something magical about taking a raw piece of leather and shaping it into something lasting, especially when it’s made for someone specific. I love perfecting the edges, choosing the right color, and seeing how each piece evolves based on how it’s used and loved.

What Matters to Me

I use full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather from a family-owned tannery in Tuscany. It’s tanned with natural plant extracts and made as a byproduct of the food industry, so it’s better for the environment and more respectful to the animal. It’s also just beautiful, rich with character, and full of vibrant color.

I care about sustainability, but I also care about meaning. I want to make pieces that people keep. That get better with age. That don’t end up in a landfill because they were made slowly, thoughtfully, and meant to last.

Why It Means So Much

When someone chooses to write in a journal I’ve made, I feel honored.
It means they trusted me to create something worthy of their thoughts, something they'd carry, use, and maybe even keep for years. I wouldn’t sell anything I wouldn’t use myself.

I want each journal to feel like a gift: to yourself or someone you love. A piece made by hand and heart, not machines. Something special, just for you.

What's Next

I’m always learning. I want to explore new techniques, make other leather goods, and connect with other makers who value slow, meaningful work.

This is just the beginning, and I’m glad you’re here for it.
